I just added 22 brand new pics to the Photo Gallery, taken on my 59th birthday, 10-17-10. Joe and I traveled up to New Paltz and Minnewaska State Park through the Catskill Mountains to take in the gorgeous Fall colors at "peak", and what a spectacular show we got! The weather was just beautiful, in the low 70's, with sky blue, cloud formations intriguing, and the Creator's paintbrush skillfully at work. Then we had a nice lunch and did a little shopping in New Paltz. All together a perfect outing. Hope you enjoy the scenery!

There are now 51 more pics in the Photo Gallery from our recent trip to Washington, D.C. These encompass our 2nd day's adventures, including trips to Arlington National Cemetery, Marine Corps War Memorial (Iwo Jima statue), The National Shrine, U.S. Capitol Building, and U.S. Supreme Court Building. The weather remained beautiful, with a bright blue sky and poetic cirrus clouds providing a perfect background. As you can see, we had a wonderful time!

I've just posted 60 brand new pics in the Photo Gallery (remember, just click on the first pic on each page of 25, and you'll get a slide show of all those pics) from our recent trip to Washington, D.C. - Joe and I spent 2 whirlwind days in DC as a 31st Anniversary gift to each other: the first day we went to see The Lincoln Memorial, The Vietnam War Memorial, The Korean War Memorial, The Franklin D. Roosevelt Memorial, The Jefferson Memorial, The Washington Monument, and The World War II Memorial. It was a beautiful day, with the temperature around 80 degrees, and moody billowy clouds mixed with blue skies - a perfect day for beautiful pictures! And we honored Joe's Dad's service in the Army in World War II (first stationed in England and Northern Ireland, as the invasion of Normandy was being planned, he took part in the Normandy Invasion on D-Day, the Battle of Lo, and the Battle of the Bulge, all in France, as well as the Invasion of Germany, and was a liberator of the infamous Buchenwald concentration camp) by visiting the World War II Memorial - lovely and touching. We wish he had lived to see it himself, but we're sure Joe, Sr. was there with us in spirit. I hope you enjoy these great photos! I recently returned home from my summer trip to Milwaukee, where I visited with my sister Linda and brother-in-law Poul in Whitefish Bay, and got to see my Mom Sophie. I've put 34 new pics in the Photo Gallery, so you can share my memories. I think you'll get a kick out of the shots at the Milwaukee County Zoo, too. "Echo" has never been available for sale worldwide before, so I'm very excited about this development. The single will cost just 99 cents, so I'm hoping everyone will buy/download a copy! I'll update you as soon as the song shows up in the iTunes store.
My 32nd Annual June Student Piano Recital, held yesterday June 6th at the Rockland Conservatory of Music in Spring Valley, NY, was a resounding success! 24 very talented students, from ages 6 to 17, played their hearts out for an audience of admiring families and friends, who were entertained with a wide range of selections featuring standards, pop and classical music. In addition, 3 students played their own very special original compositions.
All the students received Certificates of Participation. Awards of encouragement were presented to Lauren Aprahamian, Kathryn Belkin, Joey Coopersmith, and Noah Jaynes. The Piano Pin Award was received by Joseph Chindemi, Victor Chindemi and Alex Fetterman. The Student Achievement Award went to Lindsey Aprahamian, Lauren Brown and Adam Millman. 12 students received the New Plateau Award: Keren Appelbaum, Allie Denburg, Jamie Etkind, Josh Etkind, Adam Gloc, Jenna Grossbarth, Ethan Jaynes, Matthew Jaynes, Andrew Liebergall, Rachel Liebergall, David Rubin, and Sophie Solomon-O'Connell. The Quantum Leap Award went to Josheph Chindemi and Victor Chindemi. Most Improved Female was Julia Liebergall, and Most Improved Male was Michael Grossbarth. The coveted Student Of The Year Award was won by Adam Millman.
In addition, I honored my 3 graduating seniors: Allie Denburg, David Rubin and Jamie Etkind.
After the Recital and Awards Ceremony, everyone was treated to refreshments, including the yummy cake and scrumptious cookies.
Congratulations to all who participated. I am very proud of you. It was one of the very best Recitals ever!
I have just been informed that "Shimmer", the title track from my upcoming "Shimmer" CD, has been named a Semi-Finalist in the Instrumental Category of the UK Songwriting Contest 2010! This is a great honor, and the 3rd award for "Shimmer" (see 3-22-10 and 1-9-10 News entries) in 2010. I greatly appreciate the recognition.
